Carga is a Houston based maritime SaaS company accelerating digital transformation across cargo movement, port operations and marine assurance.
Built on the heritage of ShipTracks and strengthened through the acquisition of OceanSmart and PortVision, Carga now supports 300+ maritime accounts across oil and gas terminals, ports, inland barge operators and commercial shipping stakeholders.
Following significant growth and recent strategic expansion, Carga is entering its next scale up phase and is seeking a commercially driven Director of Sales and Marketing to help lead that journey.
The Opportunity
This is a high impact leadership role working directly with the CEO. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and scaling a high performing sales organization, aligning sales and marketing strategy, and driving sustainable revenue growth across Carga’s maritime SaaS portfolio. This is not a maintenance role. It is a build phase opportunity within a profitable and ambitious maritime technology platform.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership
- Build, lead and scale a performance driven sales team
- Develop clear sales processes, KPIs and accountability structures
- Own forecasting, pipeline visibility and revenue reporting (HubSpot CRM)
- Drive both new business acquisition and expansion across existing accounts
Strategic Growth
- Identify priority verticals and market segments across ports, terminals, oil and gas and commercial shipping
- Develop and execute go to market strategies aligned with company growth objectives
- Contribute to broader commercial strategy alongside the CEO and leadership team
Marketing Alignment
- Oversee alignment between sales and marketing activities
- Ensure messaging, positioning and lead generation efforts support revenue targets
- Represent Carga at key maritime industry conferences and events
Cross Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Customer Success to identify upsell and cross sell opportunities
- Partner with product and development teams to ensure commercial feedback informs roadmap priorities
Ideal Candidate Profile
Mandatory
- Deep experience within the maritime industry
- Strong understanding of ports, terminals, oil and gas or commercial shipping ecosystems
- Proven experience selling SaaS solutions
- Demonstrated experience building or scaling a sales function
Highly Valued
- Existing network across maritime decision makers
- Experience managing both shorter transactional sales cycles and longer enterprise cycles
- Ability to operate in an agile, scale up environment
- Confident, credible communicator with executive presence
